So the latest trip to the market was an opportunity to introduce our two newest interns (Daniel and Thinn) to the Market. Both Daniel and Thinn will be taking over some of my files when I finished working at the LRC next week (crazy!), so I thought it was important for them to have an opportunity to get to know the area a bit. Daniel actually grew up in the Durban area, but has been in the US for awhile now, but this was his first time in the Market area. Thinn is from the UK, and recently arrived in Durban from the north of South Africa. MK organized another tour for us, and this time it was just us and the guide. Plus MK was able to give us a little more information on some of the legal battles that have taken place and the role the LRC has played in helping the informal sector.
So, I'm not going to go through all of the explanation of the market here, you can look back at previous posts for that - http://www.alihopkins.blogspot.com/2011/11/sorry-for-lack-of-blogging-for-past.html and http://www.alihopkins.blogspot.com/2011/10/visiting-donor-and-cow-heads.html - but here are a few photos from the trip on Friday.
